Frankel to take on Canford Cliffs

GALILEO TO STRIKE AGAINBy Stuart Boman
Never has a four runner race generated so much media but justifiably so with the undefeated son of Galileo, Frankel taking on the five time Group 1 winner and last year's winner of Sussex Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) Canford Cliffs (Tagula).
Both horses bring impeccable credentials to win the race which is likely to end up a tactical affair. The connections of Frankel are not afraid of a tactical decisions with their undefeated homebred.
Frankel has three Group 1 titles to his name but this is the first time that he has taken on the older horses. He is bred on the same cross that has produced the Group 1 winners and classic winners Roderic O'Connor and Golden Lilac.
Canford Cliffs, a £50,000 Doncaster St Leger Yearling purchase by Peter Doyle, has experience on his side and a win in this race last year will take the talented son of Tagula a long way.
Making up the remainder of the small field is the Freddie Head trained son of Linamix Rajsaman who is a graduate of last years Arqara Arc Sale where he realised €440,000. He has been placed at Group 1 level but yet to win at the highest level. While Godolphin's tough son of Rahy Rio De La Plata rounds out the field. He is a three time Group 1 winner but will find this a little tough on recent form.
